[Fiction Express] Diversity and inclusion: how to personalise the reading experience

At Fiction Express, every pupil can enjoy reading. The platform provides tools and adaptations that improve accessibility, concentration and the personalisation of the reading experience.

🎨 Accessibility options for reading

To allow each pupil to read in the way that suits them best, the platform offers:

  • Adjustable font size (increase or decrease).

  • Choice of font type (with high-contrast option, useful for dyslexia).

  • Background and text colour options to improve legibility and reduce visual fatigue.

  • Reading formats: vertical scroll or double-page view, depending on preference.

💡 These options are especially useful for pupils with reading or vision difficulties, as they improve clarity and aid concentration.

🎧 Listening comprehension and audiobooks

All books include a professionally narrated audiobook, available at different speeds (0.75x, 1x, 1.25x or 1.5x).

  • Helps pupils who need extra support to stay focused.

  • Supports correct pronunciation and intonation.

  • Allows pupils to follow the text while listening, reinforcing comprehension.

💡 The audiobook is a key tool for pupils learning a second language and for those who need additional support with reading comprehension.

📚 Reading levels and progression

Fiction Express books are organised into three reading levels (identified by colours), making it easier to adapt the content to pupils’ maturity and reading skills:

  • Level 1: accessible texts, ideal for pupils starting to develop comprehension.

  • Level 2: books with more complex structures and longer chapters.

  • Level 3: advanced readings, for pupils with greater fluency.

👉 Teachers can assign books from a different level than the official cycle if appropriate (e.g. pupils in special support groups who need to work at a lower level).

🌟 Starter* for adapted groups

Fiction Express Starter (ages 6–9) is especially suitable for groups needing extra support. It includes features that make it ideal for pupils requiring adapted materials:

  • Choose your own adventure stories.

  • Illustrations alongside the text.

  • Comprehension questions after just a few pages (supporting short-term memory).

  • Audio support in all texts.

  • Pictograms in comprehension questions.

  • Simple, adaptable fonts.

*available only in Spanish

👩‍🏫 Organisation of classes and groups

Teachers can create specific classes for pupils with different needs and assign the most suitable books and levels. This allows differentiated monitoring and personalised support.
