[Fiction Express] Character limit error when writing in the Forum or Reviews
If, when writing in the Forum or in a review, you see a message indicating that you have exceeded the character limit (for example, more than 25 characters), don’t worry: it is usually related to the text format, not its actual length.
❓ Why does this error occur?
This message usually appears when the text has been copied from tools such as Word or other word processors.
These programs add hidden formatting (styles, fonts, internal codes) that the platform interprets as additional characters, even though they are not visible.
✅ How to fix it?
✏️ Option 1: Paste the text without formatting
If you have written your text outside the platform:
- Copy the text from Word (or another editor).
- Paste it using the “Paste special → plain text” option.
- If this option does not appear:
- First paste the text into a tool such as Notepad (Windows) or TextEdit / Notes (Mac).
-
- Then copy it again from there.
-
- Finally, paste it into Fiction Express.
👉 This removes any hidden formatting that may be causing the error.
💻 Option 2: Write directly on the platform
Another simple way to avoid this problem is:
- Write the text directly in the Forum or in the review within Fiction Express.
👉 This way you ensure that the text does not contain additional formatting.
🎯 Recommendation
Whenever possible, we recommend:
- Writing directly on the platform, or
- Checking the text formatting before pasting it
This will avoid errors and make it easier for students to participate.
